We congratulate you on the birth or upcoming birth on your child. The Church asks that you have your child baptized as soon as possible. To schedule a Baptism, please call the Parish Office, (330) 825-2617. We ask that you have taken a Baptism Preparation Class prior to the Baptism. You do not need to retake the class if you have already taken one. Godparents should be fully initiated practicing Catholics at least 16 years old. One is required, but if you have two, one must be male and the other female mimicking the natural family.
In the Eucharist, the faithful receive the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ for spiritual nourishment. First Communion is typically celebrated in second-grade after the children have completed their seventh year, i.e. at least seven years old. To register your child for First Communion, please call Jenn Stobbs by Labor Day weekend of their second-grade school year. In addition to the standard catechesis, your children will be expected to make their First Reconciliation and attend a Jesus Day Retreat to prepare their souls for the reception of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.
Confirmation is a completion of the graces received at Baptism and concludes Christian Initiation for those Baptized as Children and is done by a Bishop or his delegate. Confirmation is done at St. Andrew the Apostle in eighth grade. To register your children for Confirmation, please call Jenn Stobbs by Labor Day weekend of their eighth-grade school year. In addition to the standard catechesis, your children will complete a service requirement, attend a Spirit Day Retreat, and attend sacramental Reconciliation to prepare themselves to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit at Confirmation.
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is the ordinary method that non-baptized adults come into the Church through various liturgical exercises and the Sacraments of Christian Initiation of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil. For more information, please call the Parish Office, (330) 825-2617, or see the bulletin for more details.
